Calendar
KCTCS Online accommodates the needs of students by offering open entry courses. This allows students to choose the start date of each class. Course modules can start 365 days a year! The amount of credit that will be earned for the course module determines the amount of time allowed for course completion.
| Course Module Credit Hour | Maximum Length of Time for Course Module Completion |
|---|---|
| .1 to .5 | 3 weeks |
| .6 to 1.0 | 5 weeks |
| 1.1 to 1.5 | 8 weeks |
| 1.6 to 2.0 | 10 weeks |
| 2.1 to 2.5 | 13 weeks |
| 2.6 to 3.0 | 15 weeks |
The course module you choose determines your “calendar.” Since KCTCS Online operates in a distinctly different manner than traditional classroom courses, the time allowed for the courses will not be extended for holidays or institutional closings. Also, there is no fall or spring break or “snow days” for these courses. The time allowed for the course is actual calendar days with no allowance for breaks. Each class will have its own specific dates for the last day to drop without a “W,” midterm, final exam, etc.
You will be able to access Student Self-Service all day, every day even when our colleges are closed. Once you register for a course you will be able to see your specific course calendar through Student Self Service by following this navigation: Student Self-Service → My Class Schedule (start and end dates) → Deadlines (drop deadline, cancel and withdrawal deadlines).
Although KCTCS Online course modules are offered 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day (except for scheduled maintenance), KCTCS Online staff and faculty will not be available on the following holidays: Labor Day, Presidential Election Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving Day, Day before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, week between Christmas and New year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Good Friday (1/2day), Memorial Day, and Independence Day.
NOTE: Tuition refunds are limited to courses dropped before the course starts.
