Orientation

The main difference between KCTCS Online and other colleges is that you're given tremendous control over your education. You're free to choose the exact course of study that best fits your needs.

You have this power and flexibility because KCTCS Online is built around the idea of course modules. Modules are just like regular college classes, only smaller. Each course module focuses on a specific skill or topic and takes only three to eight weeks to complete.

You can sign up for as few or as many course modules as you want. If you only need one module to comply with mandatory job training, then only take that module. If you want to earn a degree, then you'll build up credit module by module over a period of one or two years.

Getting a good start to your education is more than just registering for course modules: it also involves becoming familiar with all the services that are available to you as a student of KCTCS, as well as being aware of your responsibilities as a student

Blackboard is an online learning system used at most major U.S. colleges and universities. KCTCS Online students log on to Blackboard to access their course modules, download assignments, email instructors and browse KCTCS libraries. And like KCTCS Online’s learning modules, student orientation is self-paced, and you can return as often as you like to get the information you need.
