Accreditation

KCTCS Online is an extension of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, a system of 16 fully accredited two-year colleges.

What is accreditation?

The goal of accreditation is to ensure that colleges and universities meet high levels of quality in their curriculum, administration and teaching methods. Accrediting agencies are private organizations that develop evaluation criteria and assess whether or not those criteria are met. Institutions that successfully meet an agency's criteria are then "accredited" by that agency.

Is accreditation important?

Yes. Not only does it ensure that you're getting a high-quality education, but accreditation helps ensure that any credit you earn will be accepted at other institutions.

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

SACS is the recognized regional accrediting body in the 11 southernmost states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia). SACS accredits all 16 KCTCS colleges.
